Shadow and Lighting Study

 Artist statement

This piece was from drawing 2, under heavy lighting and in a darkened room really showed how all these figures had different forms, and how they each affected the shadows. Each different form having a different effect of the shadow wrapping around them, and on each other.

 Artist Statement

This piece was one i did during drawing one as well, fewer items, but more of a challenge as i wished to be far more accurate with the details and forms of the items. These items all produced interesting shadows, values, and even reflective shines.

 Artist Statement

This was a still life from my drawing one class, the purpose was to bring items from home and exercise a composition and lighting. The differing shadows and values were challenging but interesting to see how much could be in one scene, even with every few items.

God's Desires

This sketch was also another piece inspired by the Norse Mythology of the Marriage of Skadi, this piece instead is about the conflicting desires that both deities had. While Skadi wanted to live in her home of the mountain range, her husband wanted to live in the sandy beach. Skadi missed basking in the moonlight and hearing the beautiful howls of the wolves, while Njord missed the warm rays of the sun and the cries of the seagulls. Both compromised choosing to live together in the other's land for nine days at a time, however both despised the aspects of each others land.

 Artist Statement 

A conflicting setting based on a Norse mythology based on a marriage between two equally conflicting gods, Skadi the goddess of the mountain wilderness and Njord the god of the sea. This scene was to infuse both of the setting that both gods represent, which despite how beautiful they seem, much like the myth would never work. Yet, one can still appreciate the beauty even in the impossible.
